BEN MASSE masseb@elms.edu Ben Masse is a former player for Elms College of the New England Collegiate Conference and has coached numerous teams and camps throughout Massachusetts. From 2007-2009 he was an academy coach at the NIKE Vogelsinger Soccer Academy and the NIKE spring soccer clinic. The academy and the clinic are provided for serious, talented soccer players from around the world. He was a volunteer assistant coach for the Junior Pioneers U14 and U15 teams from 2007-2008.
From 2008-2010 he was the volunteer Belchertown High School summer soccer coach. In 2009, he was named head coach of a Junior Pioneers U12 team and helped the team to a 6-1 record. Masse was recently named the head junior varsity coach for Chicopee High School.From 2003-2005, Masse played on the varsity team at Chicopee High School. In his senior year, he was captain of the team and led Chicopee to their third consecutive semi-final match in the Western Mass High School Tournament. In 2006, he played his first season at Elms College. He was the team leader in scoring and assists as he led the team to the North Atlantic Conference finals. From 2007-2009 Masse was the captain of Elms College as the team qualified for the post-season twice over those three seasons.
As a high school player, Masse earned All-Western Mass honors twice. As a college player, he was runner-up for the Rookie of the Year award in 2006 and was named All-Conference in 2007. In 2010, he won the Monsignor Timothy J. Leary Award, voted on by coaches and honors the student athlete who best demonstrates dedication, leadership, and a love of athletics. In 2010 he also won the Iron Man Award, voted on by student-athletes and goes to the athlete that shows outstanding perseverance in and out of season, embodies the toughness of spirit and never give up attitude, demonstrates passion and drive to improve not only themselves but their teammates. Masse earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Elms College in 2010 and is currently enrolled in the Masters of Teaching graduate program at Elms College.
